A 74-year-old man who had fallen into the Cooum river near Choolaimedu was rescued by police personnel on Tuesday (October 21, 2025) night.
A senior official from the city police said Palani resided along the banks of Cooum at Choolaimedu. On Tuesday, when he was standing next to the river, which had overflown due to heavy rains, he slipped and fell. He cried for help while clinging on to a piece of wire hanging near the river bund
After locals alerted the control room of the Choolaimedu police, a patrol team led by Assistant Inspector Sudhakar and police personnel Sarathkumar and Jayaprakash went to the spot and rescued the senior citizen. He was reunited with his family and provided medical assistance.
