The Greater Chennai Corporation has readied a total of 1,436 motor pumps, 478 vehicles and machines, and 457 tree-cutting units for rain-related operations across the city.
Additionally, 103 boats, 36 of which are owned by the Corporation, are on standby for evacuation, while 60 members of the National Disaster Response Force and 30 from the State Force are ready for deployment, said a corporation press release.
Around 1,132 km of stormwater drains and 44 canals have been desilted, with improvement works under way. Over one lakh silt catchpits have been cleaned. The 24-hour control centre at 1913 continues to receive and act on public complaints, the release further stated.
