The Tiruchi Railway Division organised “Amrit Samvaad” programme at the Srirangam Railway Station on Thursday to facilitate an interaction between rail users and railway officials.
The outreach was to bring the railway administration closer to passengers and rail users.
The Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchi, Balak Ram Negi, who presided over the interaction, heard suggestions from rail users. Mr. Negi said that Srirangam Railway Station was one of the key stations in the Division witnessing heavy passenger traffic throughout the year. It had been redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme with upgraded amenities such as waiting halls, modern lighting systems, improved circulating area, enhanced signage, and better accessibility providing passengers with a comfortable travel experience, he said.
During the interaction, rail users appreciated the improved infrastructure, cleanliness, and upkeep of the station premises while offering their suggestions for more amenities such as provision of an additional lift at Platform 1, better queue management during festival season, and construction of an arch at the Srirangam station entrance.
Mr. Negi responded by stating that the work on installing a lift at Platform 1 would be completed soon. He assured the rail users that the construction of an arch at the station entrance would be taken up. He said all suggestions from passengers would be examined and reaffirmed the Tiruchi Division’s commitment to continuously improve the services based on public feedback.
The rail users appreciated the division’s proactive approach in organising such a direct initiative which enabled them to personally convey their feedback and concerns to the railway administration. The ‘Amrit Samvaad’ initiative, launched as per the directives of the Railway Board, seeks to strengthen public outreach, enhance service delivery, and make railway stations more passenger-friendly across the Southern Railway.
Such initiatives had been conducted at Ariyalur, Vriddhachalam, and Chidambaram railway stations in the division, a press release from the Tiruchi Railway Division said.
