It was a red-letter day on Thursday for the Government Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Coimbatore, when 17 final-year M.A. English Literature students turned authors with all their published books getting released.

Reflecting creativity and conviction, the books spanning a wide range of themes from human emotions and cultural heritage to fantasy and social issues were written by the students within a month after taking part in a two-day workshop titled A.U.T.H.O.R (AI-Driven Unlocking of Talent for Human Original Renderings) 2025.

The initiative was to transform students into confident, AI-empowered authors. From ideation to publication, students were initiated into nuances of publishing original works through guided mentorship and structured practice by a team of faculty members G. Subramanian, A. S. Mohanagiri, S. M. Syed Hussain, M.S. Zakir Hussain, K. Anuradha, and K. Geetha Swamy.

The students consisting of 14 girls and three boys imbibed from the faculty team the joy of literary craftsmanship. “It is a proud moment in the annals of the institution’s history. The feat by the students will go a long way in securing higher positioning for the institution in the future rating by National Assessment and Accreditation Council,” College Principal M.R. Yezhili said, releasing the books in the presence of the Head of the English Department R. Gowri Shankar, and Vice-Principal P. Kanagaraj, Head and Associate Professor, Department of Political Science.
