Seven arrested in YSRCP ZPTC Nookaraju’s murder

The Anakapalli district police on Thursday arrested seven persons in connection with the murder case of YSRCP ZPTC (Koyyuru) member V. Nookaraju, at Rolugunta police station on October 20.

The arrested have been identified as K. Rajababu, N. Yerakanna, N. Lakshman, N. Appalanaidu, and three others, all residents of Chatterjipuram, MK Patnam Panchayat in Rolugunta mandal.

Addressing a press conference, DSP M. Sravani said that the conflict arose from a long-standing dispute over 10.83 acres under Survey No. 139 at Chattejipuram. Preventive bind-over cases were registered against the involved parties twice in the presence of the MRO, she added. She said that the accused believed that eliminating Nookaraju would resolve the dispute.

On October 20, while Nookaraju was visiting the site, the accused allegedly attacked him with knives and sticks, leading to his death.

Based on technical evidence and credible information about the suspects presence in the AP–Odisha border, the police tracked and arrested the accused, she said.
