Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed profound grief and concern over the tragic bus accident near Chinna Tekuru village of Kallur mandal in Kurnool district early on Friday.
The Chief Minister, who is currently on a three-day tour of the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.), held a teleconference with Ministers and senior officials, directing them to rush to the accident site and oversee relief operations.
During the teleconference, Mr. Naidu spoke with the Chief Secretary, the Director-General of Police and the Kurnool District Collector, instructing them to take all possible measures to identify the deceased and ensure that the bodies are handed over to their families promptly. He also ordered a detailed inquiry into the incident to determine the cause of the tragedy.
Following the Chief Minister’s directions, Minister for Transport M. Ramprasad Reddy, Minister for Home Vangalapudi Anita, and DGP Harish Kumar Gupta reached the accident site. The Transport Minister instructed officials to conduct an immediate review of the fitness and permits of all private travel buses to prioritise public safety.
Home Minister Vangalapudi Anita, expressing deep sorrow, announced an ex gratia of ₹5 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹2 lakh for those injured. She assured that the government would extend full support to the victims and their families.
Meanwhile, several ministers, including K. Atchannaidu, B.C. Janardhana Reddy, Satyakumar Yadav, N.M.D. Farooq, T.G. Bharath and Anagani Satyaprasad, conveyed their condolences and expressed anguish over the loss of lives.
