Rohit, Kohli guide India to big win against Australia

Rohit Sharma struck his 50th international hundred and Virat Kohli played time-bending knock in possibly their last outing in Australia, propelling India to a consolation nine-wicket victory in the third ODI here on Saturday. After Harshit Rana-led bowlers restricted Australia to a below-par 236, Rohit (121 not out) and Kohli (74 not out) stitched a 168-run alliance in just 170 balls for the second wicket to take India to 237 for one in 38.3 overs.

Congress demands probe by Public Accounts Committee into LIC’s ₹33,000 crore investment in Adani companies

The Congress on Saturday demanded a probe by Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament into what it described as a “disturbing misuse” of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) funds to benefit the Adani Group. The party alleged that officials of the Ministry of Finance and NITI Aayog pushed through a proposal in May 2025 to invest nearly ₹33,000 crore of LIC’s funds in the Adani group to “signal confidence” in the conglomerate and “encourage participation from other investors.”

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) on Saturday said its investments in Adani group companies have been made independently and in accordance with its board-approved policies, following detailed due diligence. “Department of Financial Services [in the Union Finance Ministry] or any other body does not have any role in such [investment] decisions,” LIC said in a statement posted on X.

Maharashtra doctor death: Police detain accused named in note written on her palm

“The police on Saturday (October 25, 2025) detained one person in connection with the alleged death of a 28-year-old woman doctor in Maharashtra‘s Satara district,” an official said. The police have detained Prashant Bankar, one of the two men the doctor had named in a note written on her palm,” he said. The doctor, hailing from Beed district and posted at a government hospital, was found dead in a hotel room in Phaltan of Satara district on Thursday night.
