Schools, colleges to remain closed in Sivaganga on October 27, 30


On the occasion of Marudhu brothers’ death anniversary in Sivaganga on October 27 and Thevar Jayanthi and Guru Puja on October 30 at Pasumpon in Ramanathapuram district, Sivaganga district administration has declared holidays for schools and colleges located in Sivaganga, Devakottai, Tiruppathur, Tirupuvanam, Manamadurai, Kalaiyarkoil and Ilayangudi on the two days.  

Also, Keeladi museum would remain closed for the two days.  

A prohibitory order under Section 163 (1) of the BNSS Act (previously Section 144 of the CrPC) was promulgated in Sivaganga district on October 27.  

For the two events, the district administration has informed that enough buses would be operated for the public visiting the locations.  

The press statement of the district administration has stated that 35 special executive magistrates have been appointed to oversee the events. 

In Ramanathapuram district, all licensed Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) retail liquor shops and their attached bars (FL2/FL3) would remain closed from October 28 to 30 in Kamuthi and Pasumpon.  

Also, officials have been instructed to monitor and ensure that no violations related to liquor sales occur on the said dates.
