Need for highway expansion
The national highway from Madurai to Rameswaram is currently a four-lane road up to Paramakudi and becomes a two-lane road from Paramakudi onwards. Due to frequent road accidents between Paramakudi and Ramanathapuram, there is a need for the road to be converted to four lanes in this section. Land acquisition and preliminary work for this project have already begun.
This national highway is heavily used, accommodating between 700 and 1,000 vehicles per day. The segment between Ramanathapuram and Rameswaram has become a traffic bottleneck, leading to frequent accidents. To improve traffic flow and safety, it is essential to upgrade this stretch of road to four lanes.
Additionally, since the Pamban Road Bridge can currently handle two-way traffic, it is proposed that a second parallel bridge be constructed over the sea, close to the existing bridge. Once this new bridge is completed, the road from Ramanathapuram to Rameswaram can be expanded to four lanes, enabling a continuous four-lane road from Madurai to Rameswaram.
Considering the world-renowned Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple located in Rameswaram, I urge Prime Minister Modi to prioritise and expedite this important project.

ATM service disruption
The State Bank of India ATM installed on the Palani–Dindigul Road at Tirunagar in Palani has been frequently out of service, causing inconvenience to residents and office-goers. A large number of people from Tirunagar, Nethaji Nagar, and nearby areas, including staff from the Public Works Department and private establishments, are unable to withdraw cash or access services such as balance enquiry and mini statements. I request the authorities of the State Bank of India to set right this dysfunct ATM immediately.
