The 58-acre Tholkappia Poonga in Raja Annamalai Puram, which has been upgraded with additional amenities and features including a skywalk, is now open to walkers and visitors. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the renovated park on Friday. Walkers and visitors can obtain passes/tickets on online payment at www.crrt.tn.gov.in.

Walkers (a maximum of 100 in a selected slot) can visit the park between 6.30 a.m. and 8 a.m. and between 4.30 p.m. and 6 p.m. on all days with a pass/ticket. Between 2.30 p.m. and 4.30 p.m. (except on Thursdays and public holidays), guided tours are offered for those who register online (with a maximum of 100 participants).

Walkers can buy single-visit (₹20), monthly (₹500), quarterly (₹1,500), half-yearly (₹2,500), and yearly (₹5,000) passes online.

Eco-tours for students along with teachers (a maximum of 100 participants) will be offered between 9.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m., except on Thursdays and public holidays, an official release said. While Tuesdays and Saturdays are earmarked for schools run by the Greater Chennai Corporation, government and State-aided ones could visit on Fridays. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays have been set aside for visits by private schools.

Walkers can buy single-visit (₹20), monthly (₹500), quarterly (₹1,500), half-yearly (₹2,500), and yearly (₹5,000) passes online and select their slots. The entry fee for students and teachers is ₹10 per person, and the entry fee for guided tours for the public is ₹20 per person.

The park has been renovated by the Chennai Rivers Restoration Trust under the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department at a cost of ₹42.45 crore.

Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Ministers K.N. Nehru, Ma. Subramanian, and P.K. Sekarbabu; Chennai Mayor R. Priya; MPs T.R. Baalu and Thamizhachi Thangapandian; legislators Dha. Velu and J. Karunanithi; Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam, and senior officials were among those present.
