The Chittoor XI Additional District and Sessions Court on Friday convicted five persons in the sensational 2015 Katari Mohan and former Mayor Katari Anuradha double murder case. The court will pronounce the quantum of punishment on October 27.
Those convicted are Chandra Sekhar alias Chintu (A1), Venkatachalapathi (A2), Jaya Prakash Reddy (A3), Manjunath (A4), and Venkatesh (A5).
The double murder, which occurred inside the Chittoor Municipal Corporation office in November 2015, sent shockwaves across the State. An armed gang had brutally attacked Anuradha and her husband Mohan in broad daylight, killing both on the spot.
After years of investigation and trial, the XI Additional District Judge found the five accused guilty based on strong evidence and the testimonies of key witnesses.
Meanwhile, the police have made elaborate security arrangements around the court complex, at major junctions in Chittoor city, and near the residences of prominent local leaders.
