Bombay, Oct. 22: Mill workers, numbering nearly 10,000, were paid off at the reduced scale to-day at several mills.

Prospects of reopening are still very remote, as not only are the men not returning from their villages in any huge numbers, but those men in the city, who are receiving wages, are also leaving for their villages.
