Major robbery on Thrissur–Palakkad National Highway; bus owner robbed of ₹75 lakh

A major highway robbery took place on early Saturday morning near Mannuthy on the Thrissur–Palakkad National Highway. A gang arrived in a car and allegedly robbed ₹75 lakh from Mubarak, a native of Edappal and owner of a private bus.

According to reports, Mubarak had arrived in Thrissur around dawn in a bus, carrying the money from a vehicle sale in Bengaluru. As he got off the bus at Mannuthy around 5 a.m., the gang surrounded him, snatched the bag containing the cash, and fled the scene.

The police have launched an extensive search along the national highway and nearby roads to trace the vehicle. Initial suspicion points to people known to Mubarak as the robbers appeared to have accurate information about his travel plans and the cash he was carrying.

A police team led by Ollur ACP Sudheeran is conducting the investigation. CCTV footage reportedly shows one of the suspects running away with the bag, believed to contain the stolen money. The Mannuthy police have intensified efforts to track down the culprits and recover the loot.
