A pregnant woman and a man were killed in a stabbing incident on Saturday night in Delhi’s Nabi Karim area, a police officer said on Sunday.
The officer said Shalini, 22, was allegedly attacked by Aashu, 34, who claimed to be the father of her unborn child. Akash, 23, Shalini’s husband, tried to intervene and was also stabbed, and in retaliation, he allegedly stabbed Aashu.
Shalini and Aashu were declared dead at a hospital, while Mr. Akash is undergoing treatment.
“The incident occurred around 10.15 p.m. on Saturday when Akash and Shalini were on their way to meet her mother, Sheila, on Qutub Road. Aashu suddenly arrived and attacked them,” the officer said.
The attack took place in full public view on a busy stretch near Qutub Road, triggering panic.
According to Shalini’s mother, her daughter had been in a live-in relationship with Aashu. She had recently reconciled with her husband, which reportedly enraged Aashu. The police have registered a case and initiated a probe.
