Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Friday said that a survey has been ordered to identify areas around Bengaluru that are likely to be brought under Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) limits.
Speaking to reporters after a review meeting with officials with 12 local bodies in Bengaluru Urban district, Mr. Shivakumar said, “Bengaluru is expanding rapidly, and the areas under the Bengaluru Metropolitan Region Development Authority (BMRDA) will eventually become part of Bengaluru.”
The Deputy Chief Minister, who inspected several of these peripheral areas on Wednesday (October 22), said that the government aims to ensure planned development before they are formally merged. “To avoid future issues, I have instructed officials to prepare a master plan in coordination with the Public Works Department,” he added.
