Tribesman attacked by wild elephants in Anamalai Tiger Reserve


A tribesman from Kadamparai settlement in the Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR) was hospitalised after being attacked by wild elephants on Thursday.

ATR authorities said that R. Moorthikumar, 37, was attacked by a herd of wild elephants when he was walking from Vellimudi settlement to Kadamparai through the forest around 6 p.m.

The injured tribesman was rushed to the district headquarters hospital, Pollachi, for treatment. Doctors found that he suffered an injury on his left chest, following which they referred him to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.
