Two excise constables injured in a mob attack in Sathya Sai district

Two excise constables were injured when they were attacked by a group of villagers allegedly involved in brewing illicit liquor at Alipur Thanda in Kadiri mandal of Sri Sathya Sai district on Wednesday.

According to the Kadiri police, an excise team launched raids following a tip-off about large-scale illicit liquor production in the hamlet. During the inspection, a mob of locals, reportedly engaged in distilling country-made liquor, confronted the officials and assaulted two constables with sticks.

The injured constables Venkata Prasad and Venkata Narayana were shifted to the Kadiri Government Hospital for treatment.

Senior excise officials condemned the attack and warned that stern legal action would be taken against those involved. Following a complaint, the police deployed additional forces in the hamlet and nearby areas to prevent further tension. A case has been registered, and a special team has been formed to identify and arrest the accused.
