Water released from Aliyar Dam

Water was released from Aliyar Dam near Pollachi on Friday (October 24, 2025) to support second crop irrigation, following the recent rainfall that brought the dam’s water level to 118.50 feet of its 120-foot capacity.

The State government issued an order directing the release of 1,143 million cubic feet of water from the dam over 174 days, from Friday, until April 15, 2026, to irrigate 6,400 acres in the old ayacut area through five canals.

In accordance with the order, at 10 a.m. on Friday, officials of the Water Resources Department, led by Executive Engineer Singaravelu and Assistant Engineer Karthik Gokul, released water from the dam in the presence of farmers from the ayacut irrigation area.
