Under fire from a section of the partymen for projecting the leadership of Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi in Belagavi recently, Congress MLC Yathindra on Saturday seemed to add fuel to fire by stating that his father and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will complete his full term “under the present circumstances”.

‘No November revolution’

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, Mr. Yathindra dismissed the rumours about “November revolution” and said there is no discussion on the issue in the party.

Fielding queries from reporters, the Congress MLC said he does not wish to talk about the statement he made in Belagavi and that he had already given a clarification in the matter. “I don’t wish to drag this issue any further and create a controversy. I will not talk about this anymore,” he said.

When his attention was drawn to the possibility of a report being submitted to the party high command on the issue by the party and the demand to issue him a notice like it was to others in the party for speaking on the leadership issue, he said, “Let anyone do whatever they want, but I will not talk about the matter in the media anymore.” He said he will talk about it only in party fora as it was an internal matter of the party.

Reacting to the possibility of a notice being issued to him, Mr. Yathindra said, “Let us see if a notice comes from the party.”

He said he had already issued a clarification when the statement he made in Belagavi assumed a controversy. “How many times should I clarify. There is no need to keep clarifying,” he said.

‘Nothing wrong’

However, when asked if he will stick to his statement, Mr. Yathindra said there was nothing wrong in his statement. “There is nothing wrong in whatever I have said. I have already clarified it,” he said, before adding that there were several AHINDA leaders and others in the party, who were committed to social justice, and they were all eligible to lead the party.
