Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Panchayat Raj & Rural Development (PR&RD) K. Pawan Kalyan has ordered that Divisional-Level Development Offices (DLDOs) be opened across the State from November 1 to ensure the benefits of reforms being implemented in the PR&RD Department reach the people effectively.
In a meeting with senior officials of the department on Thursday, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said, by doing away with the cluster system and making 13,351 Gram Panchayats independent units, the government paved the way for better service delivery to the rural folks.
He mentioned that steps were being taken to remove the financial constraints faced by the GPs in creating basic infrastructure, and to see that funds smoothly flowed to the GPs from the Central and State governments.
Also, he exhorted the officials to prepare plans that help the GPs in achieving financial self-reliance and enable them to optimally utilise the funds from the 15th Finance Commission.
Mr. Pawan Kalyan emphasised the need for employees to play an active role in ensuring the results of the reforms benefited the targeted sections. He instructed the officials to conduct regular review meetings on the utilisation of funds and implementation of administrative reforms, and called for steps to organise the Palle Panduga 2.0 programme.
