In a special two-hour drive, the West Division Traffic Police on Friday caught 36 drivers allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.
According to the official release, the drive started around 7 a.m. and concluded at 9.30 a.m. .
Of the 5,881 drivers checked for alcohol consumption, the test found 36 drivers positive, the release added.
These drivers were prosecuted under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and their licences were sent to the respective regional transport offices for suspension.
Action has been taken to issue notices to the school managements, officials said.
