The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Wing police searched the properties of an Assistant Director of Mines here on Friday.
Following corruption charges against Assistant Director of Mines, Dindigul district, Selvasekaran, the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Police searched his house at Vima Square on Jeba Garden – Reddiyarpatti Road in Palayamkottai on Friday.
The case is that Selvasekaran had amassed wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income when he was serving in Virudhunagar district a couple of years ago as the Assistant Director of Mine.
Sources in the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Police said they had received complaints that Selvasekaran was running quarries in a few districts and an electric scooter showroom, all in the name of his benamis.
“Since the applicants for ‘quarry trip token’ would receive one-time password while the token is given, Selvasekaran allegedly took ₹2,000 per OTP, as per the complaint. We are inquiring about all these charges and collecting evidences against him,” the sources in Vigilance and Anti-Corruption said.
Search was also held at his present residence in Dindigul.
