Over 18,000 people benefited from medical camps under Nalam Kaakkum Stalin scheme, says Minister Rajendran

Tourism Minister R. Rajendran said that in Salem district, a total of 18,354 people benefited from the medical camps conducted under the Nalam Kaakkum Stalin scheme.

On Saturday, the Minister inspected a medical camp held under the scheme in a private school at Kadayampatti. He interacted with people who came for the camp and also with the medical teams regarding the basic amenities provided at the camp.

Mr Rajendran told reporters that on August 2, 2025, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated medical camps under the scheme across the State and in Kamaraj Girl’s Higher Secondary School at Manakkadu in Salem Corporation. Until now, 12 medical camps were conducted under the scheme in the district. Through these camps, 18,354 people (7,944 men and 10,410 women) had benefitted. Likewise, 14,491 people underwent blood tests, 12,257 underwent ECG tests, 1,841 ultrasound scans, 1,984 Echo tests and 1,467 people underwent X-ray tests.

Stating that all medical tests are done at free of cost in these camps, the Minister said that in these camps experts from 17 different departments, including general medicine, cardiology, orthopedics, neurology, dermatology, and obstetrics, are present.

Later, the Minister handed over identity cards to five differently abled persons at the camp after examination. During the inspection, District Collector R. Brindha Devi and officials participated.
