A history-sheeter was arrested for assaulting a 17-year-old boy following a quarrel over bursting firecrackers at Annai Sathya Nagar.
According to police, Jayanthi, 36, of Annai Sathya Nagar, the mother of a 17-year-old boy reported that on Monday her son was bursting crackers near their house when a cracker accidentally fell near Balaji, who lives in the same area. Balaji questioned the boy for lighting crackers carelessly, leading to an argument.
At that moment, Balaji’s friend, Muniyan, confronted the boy for allegedly speaking rudely to Balaji. He abused the boy verbally, assaulted him, and bit his ear, causing bleeding injuries. He fled the spot. The injured boy was admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital for treatment.
Based on a complaint filed by Jayanthi, Kothawal Chavadi police arrested Muniyan. Investigations revealed that he was a history-sheeter with criminal cases pending against him at the same police station.
