Bengaluru-based NGO’s ‘Our Digital Futures Fest’ begins on October 25

IT for Change, a Bengaluru-based NGO working on research and advocacy in the domain of digital justice, is organising “Our Digital Futures Fest” with a set of events between October 25 and November 1 to mark its 25th anniversary.

The events, being organised with The Hindu as its media partner, mark the organisation’s work in the area of “people-centered technology models, grounded in democratic principles, and individual and collective human rights”.

Multiple events

The fest features an array of events, including panel discussions, film screenings, roundtables, and exhibitions, that will touch upon trends in the evolution of technology, society and their intersections, and where India is located on these trajectories.

The fest comes at a critical juncture when India is aspiring to offer leadership to contextual technology and AI development, including innovations grounded in respect for multilingualism, and to protect its digital sovereignty amidst rising geopolitical tensions. India is also set to host the AI Impact Summit in February 2026, recentering the focus on people, planet, and progress in the digital epoch, according to the NGO.

The fest begins on Saturday at Bangalore International Centre with a public talk on “The Screen, Self, and Algorithms” by Dr. Shekhar Seshadri between 11.30 a.m. and 12.45 p.m. The leading child and adolescent psychiatrist, in his talk, will look into critical questions of screen addiction, identity formation, and young people’s well-being in our algorithm-driven world. It will be moderated by Prof. Sundar Sarukkai, philosopher and author.

A photo exhibition, “From Fields to Futures,” that captures the creative efforts of adolescent girls, rural women, school teachers, and students who have harnessed technology for inclusive learning in classrooms and digital storytelling, will be on display at the same venue.

The next set of events will be held on October 30, 31, and November 1 at Infosys Science Foundation as part of the series of events.
