Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Railways V. Somanna on Friday (October 24, 2025) said the Rozgar melas demonstrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to expanding employment opportunities across the country. He was addressing a Rozgar mela organised by the Postal department at the Centre for Water Resources Development and Management, Kunnamangalam in Kozhikode district.
The Minister noted that recruitment processes in various Central ministries and departments were expedited through focussed interventions. He stated that the Railways created five lakh jobs over the past 11 years through computer-based examinations conducted without any complaints.
While urging the newly appointed candidates to view government service as a platform to serve the underprivileged and to work with sincerity, he said the Central government’s goal was to build a system that could facilitate job creation and business growth to strengthen the economy. Highlighting that 60% of India’s population is between 18 and 35 years of age, the Minister expressed confidence that India would become the world’s third-largest economy by 2028.
Mr. Somanna also outlined various measures taken by the Union government over the past 11 years for the development of different sectors and initiatives introduced to improve the ease of doing business in the country.
As part of the national Rozgar mela initiative, Mr. Modi released over 51,000 appointment letters to recruits through video conferencing and addressed the participants. The Kozhikode event streamed the Prime Minister’s address live. There were 47 candidates who received the appointment orders for various positions in the Department of Posts, Railways, Airport Authority of India, and Union Home Ministry.
Director of Postal Services (North Division) V. D. Ganesh Kumar and Southern Railways’ Palakkad Divisional Manager Madhukar Rout were also present at the event.
