Union Minister of State for Planning and Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh has recently urged Union Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal to expedite the preparation of the policy to connect the Dwarka Expressway to the Delhi Airport Metro corridor (Orange Line) and the Dwarka metro line (Blue Line).
In a letter earlier this month, Mr. Singh pointed out that a large number of residential colonies had come up along the Dwarka Expressway, a 29-km-long stretch connecting Gurugram with Delhi, and the nearby Pataudi Road, Basai Road, and Farruknagar Road, adding that the “residents of these colonies can benefit from the metro’s access to Delhi”.
He said the matter was discussed with officials of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) at a recent meeting of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority. It was agreed to consider extending the Delhi airport metro corridor and the Blue Line to Dwarka Expressway, further connecting them to the Southern Peripheral Road via the Kherki Daula cloverleaf interchange on National Highway 48, Mr. Singh added.
He also said that the NCRTC officials briefed him on the draft project to connect the Orange Line to IFFCO Chowk, passing through Sectors 22 and 23 in Gurugram.
