Prohibitory order clamped in Sivaganga district from October 23 to 31


In view of the death anniversary of freedom fighters Marudhu brothers, and guru puja of Muthuramalinga Thevar, a prohibitory order under Section 163 (1) of the BNSS Act (previously Section 144 of the CrPC) has been promulgated in Sivaganga district from October 23 to October 31.

The death anniversary of Marudhu brothers, would be observed as a State government event at their memorial in Tiruppathur, Sivaganga district, on October 24.

Furthermore, on October 27, community organisations would observe the memorial day at the Marudhu Pandiyar’s memorial in Kalayarkovil.

Following this, Thevar Jayanti and guru puja are scheduled to take place on October 30 at Pasumpon in Ramanathapuram district.

In view of the events, based on the recommendation of District Superintendent of Police R. Shiva Prasad, District Collector K. Porkodi issued the prohibitory order in Sivaganga district from October 23 to October 31.

In accordance with the order, any public meeting or assembly of five or more persons or processions, expect with the prior permission of District Collector, is prohibited.

Also, the order prohibited movement within the district of all types of hired vehicles (tourist motor cabs, tourist maxi cabs, All India Tourist vehicles including stage carriages with temporary or special permits and goods carriages) and tractors, two wheelers as well as three wheelers carrying volunteers intending to participate in the memorial event.
