Three including siblings die in accident near Tiruppur


Three persons, including two siblings, died in a head-on collision involving two motorcycles near Kangeyam in Tiruppur district late on Sunday, October 19, 2025.

The deceased were identified as K. Maithreyan, 21, and his brother K. Karan, 12, from Chennimalai near Tiruppur, and Dhuki Ram Das, 27, of Odisha.

The police said that Maithreyan, Karan and their mother K. Kalaivani, 46, were travelling from Chennimalai to Thittuparai on a scooter on Sunday night. Maithreyan rode the two-wheeler. As they reached Paranjervali near Kangeyam, the scooter collided with a two-wheeler. Dhuki Ram Das, Dileep Das, 31, and Bikash Malik, 18, of Odisha, who worked in a quarry at the locality, were on the other two-wheeler.

The police said that Maithreyan, Karan and Dhuki Ram Das suffered grievous injuries and died on the spot. Kalaivani, Dileep and Malik suffered injuries. They were rushed to the Government Hospital at Kangeyam and later referred to Government Medical College Hospital, Tiruppur.

The Kangeyam police registered a case and launched an investigation into the accident.

According to the police, Maithreyan was a college student and Karan was studying in Class VIII. Kalaivani, a tailor by occupation, had lost her husband a few years ago.
