
Senior principal scientist Labani Ray

Two scientists from the CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) – Labani Ray (senior principal scientist) and H.V.S. Satyanarayana (chief scientist) — have been selected as Fellows of Telangana Academy of Sciences 2024.
Ms. Ray has established the country’s only laboratory — Centre for Geothermal Energy Research (CGER) — for measuring rock thermal conductivity at elevated temperatures enabling more accurate geothermal models of Indian Lithosphere.

Mr. Satyanarayna has established a test and calibration centre for seismic instruments and led major 2D/3D projects for resource exploration and has played a key role in establishing seismic networks across the country for earthquake monitoring and hazard assessment, as per a press release.
