The BJP has interpreted the statement of Yatindra Siddaramaiah, MLC, that his father is at the fag end of his political career and that Minister Satish Jarkiholi was the right candidate to succeed him as a clear indication of the beginning of what it calls “November revolution”.
Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly R. Ashok on Thursday maintained that Dr. Yatindra had spoken at the behest of his father.
Claiming that change in the chief ministerial post was bound to happen, he said it was in this context that the Congress had raked up the RSS issue to “divert public attention” from internal problems and administrative failures.
Mr. Ashok remarked that Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar was on a temple run to seek divine support for his candidature. “But Mr. Shivakumar appears to have lost his way now,” he remarked.
In such a politically uncertain environment, corruption had increased and all Ministers had been given targets for raising resources for funding the Congress campaign in the Bihar polls, he alleged.
Meanwhile, ridiculing the recent statements of Dr. Yatindra and AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge’s son, Priyank Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy said, “While the government is struggling to fill the potholes on roads, the sons of two prominent leaders had dug potholes in the government itself.”
