Man killed in dispute over firecrackers, 3 held

A dispute between neighbours on Deepavali evening spiralled into an alleged stabbing attack on a 23-year-old man, leading to his death in the Shahbad Dairy area, Outer North Delhi, the police said on Tuesday.

The police arrested three persons – Dheeraj, 24, Akash alias Baba, 24, and Tarun, 22 – allegedly involved in the attack over firecrackers on charges of murder.

Shahbad Dairy police received a call about the attack, and upon arriving at the spot, they found the victim, Dileep’s body, outside his residence.

According to police, the victim, Dileep, was stabbed outside his residence an hour after he, along with his two brothers – Deepak and Sandeep – got involved in a scuffle with a group of men in the neighbourhood.

An FIR was registered based on Deepak’s statement, and within an hour, three of the accused were arrested. One suspect remains at large. CCTV footage from nearby areas helped investigators identify and trace the suspects, the police said.
