The Kerala High Court has sought the State government’s response to a habeas corpus plea filed by Santon Lama, son of Suraj Lama, a person reportedly suffering from memory loss, who was reported missing a few days after he landed here from Kuwait on October 5.
The court ordered that the Home Ministry be impleaded in the case, and that the court be informed if the missing person, who was hospitalised in August after an alcohol poisoning incident in Kuwait, was traced.
Instead of being sent to Bengaluru, he was reportedly deported from Kuwait to Kochi, without informing his relatives. The Thrikkakara police had on October 8 taken him into custody and ferried him in an ambulance to the Government Medical College Hospital here, from where he is said to be reported missing from October 10.
The next hearing on the matter has been posted for October 22.
