A 40-year-old member of a primary agriculture cooperative society who was celebrating the victory of his leader in the Belagavi District Central Cooperative Bank elections died of a heart attack on Monday.
Giriyappa Gantoti collapsed while dancing during a procession taken out to celebrate Mallappa Yadwad’s victory. Yadwad won from Ramdurg.
Gantoti was a voter in the elections. Considered a loyal supporter of MLA Ashok Pattan, Gantoti worked for Mr. Yadwad after Mr. Pattan withdrew his nomination papers in his favour.
